Concorde

After checking in for our flight back to Miami from Barbados, we find out that the flight is over 4 hours late (American Airlines). With a lot of time to kill, we decided to go to the Concorde museum, right across from the airport. It was a really, really well put together presentation. I highly recommend the museum. The guides are well informed and answer all questions you might have. You get to go inside the Concorde and watch a short presentation, operate the seats and have a look at the cockpit. There are visual simulators that you try out your flying skills and an observation deck where you can see Grantley Adams Airport runway.

Beautiful Barbados

I have so many photos that I'd like to upload, but it would just be a total bore. We were away from July 4 - 16th. The boys surfed every day but one and Dereck had all the wind he could want. He ended up kiting in the afternoon when the sun was best for photography. It always ended at a friend's house close to the beach for a shower, beer and some ole' talk........ then leave. What a life!


The most beautiful place to kite. Talk about faking it! Not enough water to have a satisfying kite, but worth it for great shots. Long Pond at Foster's Fun Land. Trust me they are right by calling it a pond.

Back in Time

Balandra Bay, Trinidad. We spent a weekend there in 2003 in June. Decided to visit Trinidad and stayed with some good friends of ours, Karen and George Vieira. Thanks, guys, I always remember this holiday. I had a lot of fun. I was browsing my CDs and came across the photos and did a bit of reminiscing.
Remember that photo of the "Alien" chasing Ryan? Thanks for that George! LOL!






This was taken in Antigua at a quiet beach called Coco Beach. Such a lovely place to be.



My boy Tyler and the fake rain. Kane was holding the hose for me while I shot Tyler. He opened the umbrella on the count of 3 and I caught it at that moment. Water spraying off the umbrella crashing into the water from the hose. I love this shot.

I have nothing to say today. I feel like being challenged. This is too easy in photography, but I challenged myself in Photoshop with layers and such. I had fun!

something different

So I'm starving to be creative. I had an idea. Something sparked my imagination and I just went with it. Some face paint, 2 boys and a shower curtain.
It's pretty dark, but it works. It's what I wanted to accomplish.



A little later on, they were swimming in the pool. You would think I would process the photos to look like they were having fun, but the paint and plastic had me in a dark place.


Once again, I painted Kane's face, but this time I used white paint as well. Don't worry, it's certified face paint. Got out my strobe and black backdrop and fired a few more.

Day 2 of Capoeira

Capoeira and Maculele

Kane hasn't been going to capoeira recently. In fact he hasn't gone in over 2 years. I miss him doing it as he is really good at it. He first started when he was just 6 years old and quickly absorbed everything he learned and not only did he enjoy capoeira, he felt it. One could see the electricity of capoeira running through this child. It was mind blowing. You can tell I'm a very proud mother. Can you blame me? When we decided to move, selling our house and buying a new and bigger one a hour away, he had to stop capoeira. Homework got in the way and the long drive wasn't really working out for us. Last summer, we wanted to have him attend, but his instructor (seen in the photographs) broke his leg and was out of commission for months. It's a new year and a new summer and yesterday, I decided it was time to get Kane back into the capoeira groove. Yay!
Today, he is sore, but he's going back. He is now attending the adult classes and they work you hard. If he thinks he's in pain today.......... wait till tomorrow!!! LOL!!! By the end of the week, I think I will see that electricity back in him. He will be breathing it, living it and loving it once more. It doesn't take very long....

Although he is attending capoiera classes once more, in these photos, Kane is learning the maculele. A dance performed to music using sticks. Although a lot of the male students don't care for it, it is still a big part of the Brazilian capoeira culture.
